Easy-Peasy Homemade Microwave Popcorn

Today’s recipe is one of the easiest ever in honor of this lovely pre-Easter, post-birthday Friday! This is a quick, easy and super-healthy treat that you can make and enjoy in a snap.

I’ve always loved the ease of microwave popcorn but even the little 100-calorie packs are chock full of sodium, not to mention the exorbitant cost! That’s why I love homemade microwave popcorn; I can buy in bulk and eat by volume without puffing up afterward or worrying about what’s in that tasty yellow gunk on the bag’s side.

All you need for Homemade Popcorn is:

  • 1/4 cup popcorn kernels
  • a small brown paper bag
  • the seasonings of your choice
  1. Place the popcorn kernels in the bag, roll up the top and microwave for 1-1.5 minutes or until the pops slow to 5-7 second intervals.
  2. Toss the popcorn with seasonings of your choice, or melted butter.

Wasn’t that easy? If you want a sweet treat, you can also add chocolate chips to the warm, popped corn and shake to coat. Enjoy with your loved ones and a good movie this weekend! : )
